Indeed a good plan for the future…
Now that all of the fossil fuels are running out and petrol is only going to get more and more expensive to the point where it is only available to the super rich, now might be a the best possible time to start working towards a career to do with electric cars. Electric components are already very important parts of a cars inner workings for now so if you are looking to work in auto electricals then you may as well start with what you have available. So if you start working with electrical components now, you will be very well placed to start working with electric cars in the future.
So how do you go about getting a job with car electronics?
Go to school
The first thing you need to do is to go to school and work hard in subjects like maths, technology, craft and design, physics, chemistry and English. This combination of subjects should give you a first class base knowledge in all the areas you might need as you go after your chosen career. With descent grades in these subjects you should be able to go straight from school and get an apprenticeship at a local garage.
Alternatively you may want to think about going to college or university to learn about your subject more in depth. College can probably give you the best practical experience as you will be sent for work experience which will give you very useful practical experience and combine it with lessons in the classroom which teach you about how to fix more complicated components, like a Honda alternator or a Honda starter motor, as well as entire vehicular electronics systems. University on the other hand will take you down a more academic path that will push you to advance your knowledge of electronics as a whole and encourage you to research what interests you the most about it.
Apprenticeship
When you have been through your chosen academic path you will come out the other side probably looking for an apprenticeship. These are particularly good as they let you join a business from the ground floor and with luck you will get to work on as many pieces of auto electrical equipment as you like. Not only this, but you will also be given training on a full range of vehicular systems so that you can become a fully trained auto engineer or mechanic depending on what you want to do with your life.
